Janicki Industries breaks ground on $800 million Montana manufacturing facility
Janicki Industries broke ground on its planned $800 million manufacturing campus in Montana on Friday, after making an announcement in June about plans to build the facility.
The local engineering and manufacturing company is one of the largest privately-owned Tier 1 aerospace suppliers in the country. The new facility, which is expected to add 2 million square feet of production space over the next 10 years, will be located in Great Falls, near Malmstrom Air Force Base.
Janicki leadership, Montana state officials and local community and economic development partners were present for the groundbreaking to celebrate the project.
The manufacturing campus will be built on 180 acres, with construction expected to begin in July. The first phase of the campus is expected to be open by the end of 2027.
Company leaders anticipate the facility will create 1,000 new jobs in the first five years, with total employment exceeding 2,000 jobs after the facility is completed.
Company leaders previously told The Bellingham Herald that this expansion into Montana is intended to help meet “growing demand from our aerospace, defense and space customers.”
Consistent growth in these sectors has increased demand beyond the capacity of Janicki’s existing facilities in Washington and Utah. The company is not leaving Washington, leaders told The Herald.
The company currently operates more than 1 million square feet of facilities across the two states — including at facilities in Sedro Woolley, Bellingham, Mount Vernon, and Hamilton, Mont. — and employs more than 2,000 people. Janicki was founded in 1993 and specializes in advanced composites, precision machining and metal fabrication.
