The body of a Canadian hiker who was missing for two weeks was recovered Sunday on the South Twin.

Search efforts for Gursimran Singh, 34, were underway since July 1 after he failed to return from a hike on the Twin Sisters mountain range on June 29. Singh is the second overdue hiker found dead in Whatcom County in recent days.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater said a hiker notified the search and rescue team Saturday that Singh spotted. The Snohomish County Helicopter Rescue Team and the Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council recovered his body on the north face of the South Twin on Sunday, Slater said.

“Our heartfelt condolences to Gursimran’s family, friends and loved ones during this painful time,” WCSO wrote on Facebook. “We are so sorry for your loss. We are deeply grateful to all who contributed time, expertise and resources throughout this mission.”

The body of another overdue hiker, 55-year-old Steven Dorsett, was found Saturday in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
