Authorities locate body of missing Bellingham hiker in national forest

The body of a missing Bellingham hiker was found in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on Saturday afternoon, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Dorsett, 55, was last heard from June 24 while leaving the Canyon Creek Trailhead. He had planned to be gone for a maximum of 10 days.

The WCSO, National Park Rangers and multiple search and rescue teams from across the region all helped look for Dorsett following his disappearance.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Steven’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” WCSO wrote in a social media post.
