Bellingham gas prices down in June, and this local station has the best price

Gas prices decreased in Bellingham, Whatcom County and Washington in June compared to The Herald’s May survey, and we found the cheapest local gas station for you.

The average price of a gallon of gas across the United States was $4.16 Monday, June 8, according to AAA — a decrease of 38 cents from last month. Last year, the nation’s average was $3.12.

Here’s the local breakdown comparing the price of regular gas:

Washington

​Washington’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $5.62 — a 14-cent decrease compared to May’s average. Last June, gas averaged $4.37 a gallon in Washington, according to AAA.

Washington has the third-highest gas prices in the country, following California at $5.89 a gallon and Hawaii at $5.58, according to AAA. Washington has had the third-highest gas prices in the U.S. for eight consecutive months.

Whatcom County and Bellingham

Whatcom County’s average cost of gas is $5.51 a gallon, a 9-cent decrease compared to May.

On Monday, June 8, Bellingham’s average price for a gallon of gas was also $5.51, according to AAA, a 10-cent decrease compared to April.

County’s cheapest gas

The cheapest gas price in Whatcom County on Monday, June 9, was $4.85 at Lummi Bay Market’s 76 Station at 4839 Rural Ave. in Bellingham, as well as Costco at 4125 Arctic Ave. in Bellingham, according to GasBuddy.

Last month, gas prices in Bellingham, Whatcom County and Washington increased month-to-month.
