Where are rents rising in Whatcom County? Our latest survey breaks it down

A recent survey shows average home rental prices holding steady or decreasing in most Whatcom County towns and cities so far compared January.

Bellingham rental prices

The average price for Bellingham rentals of all bedrooms and all property types was $2,000 on Feb. 8, according to data from Zillow. That’s the same as January’s average price, and an increase of $25 compared to February 2025.

“The price range for all bedrooms and all property types is $691 to $11,000,” according to Zillow’s February data, and Bellingham’s average rental price is 0.25% higher to the national average in February.

Real estate data company Zumper, on the other hand, shows prices dropping across all types of rentals in Bellingham.

“A one-bedroom apartment in Bellingham costs about $1,525 on average, while a two-bedroom apartment is $1,795,” according to Zumper. “Houses for rent in Bellingham are more expensive, with an average monthly cost of $2,622.”

Whatcom County rental prices

Zillow rent price data can also be compared by city. Here are Whatcom County’s average rent prices for Feb. 8:

  • Blaine: $2,500, an increase compared to last month.
  • Deming: $2,450 the same price as last month.
  • Lynden: $2,200, an increase compared to last month.
  • Everson: $2,100, a decrease compared to last month.​
  • Bellingham: $2,000, the same as last month.
  • ​Ferndale: $2,000, a decrease compared to last month.
  • Birch Bay: $1,995, the same price as last month.
  • Point Roberts: $1,800, a decrease compared to last month.
  • ​Sumas: $1,500, a decrease compared to last month.

Compared to last month, prices decreased in four cities, increased in two, and remained level in three.
