Don’t want to cook on Christmas? Find Bellingham restaurants open for the holiday
Whether you are looking for a break or a change of pace this holiday season, you may be searching for a restaurant on Christmas Day.
The majority of Bellingham-area stores and eateries will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, in observance of the holiday, putting local diners in a bind.
Luckily, a handful of restaurants in and around Bellingham will be open on Christmas — offering everything from prime rib and salmon and peppermint crème brûlée.
The Bellingham Herald has put together a list of restaurants open in Whatcom County on Christmas Day.

Treating yourself to a fancy Christmas feast? Here are some restaurants offering fine dining in Whatcom County.
Kennan’s at the Pier: The “causal yet elegant” restaurant inside The Chrysalis Inn & Spa, 804 10th St in Bellingham, is offering Christmas breakfast at 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. While they may not be offering a special Christmas menu, they will be offering delicious breakfast items, such as beignets, winter hash and lox bagel. Make reservations by calling 360-392-5510.
B-Town Kitchen and Raw Bar: The steakhouse at 714 Lakeway Drive in Bellingham is offering a specialty menu for Christmas Day including slow-roasted prime rib, pesto baked salmon and peppermint crème brûlée. Reservations are required and can be made at 360-392-6520.
Silver Reef Casino Resort: All restaurants in Silver Reef Casino Resort, 4876 Haxton Way in Ferndale, will be open during normal hours Thursday for Christmas Day.
Semiahmoo Resort Golf & Spa: The Semiahmoo Resort, 9565 Semiahmoo Pkwy. in Blaine, is hosting a family-style feast for Christmas Day featuring green salad, bread rolls, prime rib and peppermint cheesecake. Dinner costs $89, or $29 for children ages 4 to 12; children under 4 eat free.
Bellingham hotels have holiday buffets
Northwater: The restaurant inside Holiday Inn & Suites, 4260 Mitchell Way in Bellingham, is celebrating the holidays with buffets. From 7 to 10 a.m Thursday, there will be a buffet breakfast for $15 per person. There’s also an Asian-inspired buffet available from noon to 6 p.m. with tangerine beef, crispy chicken gyoza, fried rice and bao buns. The buffet costs $45, or $25 for children age 11 and under.
Additionally, the restaurant will offer regular service at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday as well as a hot chocolate bar.
Lighthouse Grill: The Lighthouse Grill inside Hotel Bellwether, 1 Bellwether Way in Bellingham, is offering a festive buffet with seafood and meat from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday. The Christmas Day buffet cost $99, or $65 for children ages 5 to 10.
Hotel Leo: Hotel Leo, 1224 Cornwall Ave in Bellingham, is bringing the holiday cheer with a Chinese food buffet from noon to 8 p.m.
Want takeout? Try these local Asian restaurants
While most Bellingham-area restaurants won’t be open for dine-in on Thursday, some local restaurants will be open for takeout meals.

Asian Bistro Restaurant, 1730 La Bounty Drive in Ferndale, will be open for takeout at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
QQ Li’s, 505 32nd St. in Bellingham, will be open for takeout at 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
