Rental survey: Average prices decrease in Bellingham, across Whatcom County
A recent survey of rental prices in Whatcom County shows a decrease in average December prices so far compared to last month. That includes a price drop in Bellingham and nearly all other towns.
The average price for Bellingham rentals of all bedrooms and all property types was $2,000 on Dec. 2, according to data from Zillow. That’s a $100 decrease compared to November’s average price, and an increase of $75 compared to December last year.
“The price range for all bedrooms and all property types is $650 to $11,000,” according to Zillow’s December data, and Bellingham’s average rental price is equal to the national average in December.
Prices dropped across all types of rentals, according to real estate data company Zumper.
“A 1-bedroom apartment in Bellingham, WA costs about $1,467 on average, while a 2-bedroom apartment is $1,795,” according to Zumper. “Houses for rent in Bellingham, WA are more expensive, with an average monthly cost of $2,695.”

- Bellingham: $2,000, a decrease compared to last month.
- Lynden: $1,975, an increase compared to last month.
- Blaine: $2,100, an increase compared to last month.
- Ferndale: $2,295, an increase compared to last month.
- Point Roberts: $1,950, a decrease compared to last month.
- Sumas: $1,600, a decrease compared to last month.
- Everson: $2,050, a decrease compared to last month.
- Birch Bay: $2,000, the same price as last month.
- Deming: $1,200, a decrease compared to last month
