Halloween is next week. Time to plan your perfect costume for local parties, trick-or-treating and other spooky events. Here’s our guide to Whatcom County’s Halloween happenings for 2025. Trick-or-treating

  • Downtown Trick-or-Treat, downtown Bellingham’s annual free trick or treating event, is open to all ages. Over 100 businesses will hand out free treats from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.
  • Birch Bay Trick-or-Treat on the Berm, a free trick or treating event in Birch Bay, will run from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The event will include 30 treat stations along the berm trail along Birch Bay Dr.
  • Ferndale Trick-or-Treat will feature free trick or treating, games, prizes and a food truck from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. After trick or treating, tickets will be available to walk through the Whatcom Frightmare’s Haunted Barn in Pioneer Village. Pioneer Park is at 2007 Cherry St. in Ferndale.
  • Fearhaven - Brick or Treat, Fairhaven’s free trick or treating event, will run from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Participating businesses will hand out candy and a photo booth will be available at Finnegan’s Alley.
  • Trunk or Treat at First Congregational United Church of Christ, a free trick or treating event for all ages, will run from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The free event is at 2401 Cornwall Ave. in Bellingham.
  • Vegan Trunk or Treat & Bake Sale is a free event for all ages that will feature vegan candy trick or treating, costume contests, raffles, and a food truck. The free event runs from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Evil Bikes Landing, at 700 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.
  • Barkley Boo-levard Trick or Treat, a free trick or treating event for all ages, will run from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Participating businesses will hand out treats along Newmarket St. in Barkley Village in Bellingham.
  • Bellis Fair Mall’s Spooktacular Mall-O-Ween will featuring indoor trick or treating from participating businesses from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Costumes are encouraged. Bellis Fair mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham.
  • Cordata Place Trick or Treat is a free trick or treating event throughout the shopping center. Christ the King church will be handing out free hot cocoa and glow bracelets. The free event runs from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31 at Cordata Place Shopping Center at 4151 Meridian St. in Bellingham.

Parties and festivals

  • Spooktacular 2025, a 3-night Halloween party featuring a haunted house, BAAY Zombie Dancers, a “witch walk,” a séance room, games, and art, will run from Oct. 23-25. The party is for ages 4 and up and costs $15-$25 for admission depending on the day. The party will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Woodstock Farm. No parking is available at the farm, but a free shuttle is available from Fairhaven Park at 107 Chuckanut Dr N. in Bellingham.
  • CPC Annual Fall Festival, put on by Cordata Presbyterian Church, is a free fall festival for all ages featuring games, a cardboard box maze, prizes, crafts, food, candy and more. The festival runs from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 at 400 Meadowbrook Ct. in Bellingham.
  • Baby BOO-gie: Halloween Party for Littles, will run from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 25 for babies, toddlers, young kids and children with special needs. The event costs $10 per family and is at the Whatcom Family Village at 1501 Fraser St. in Bellingham. Tickets are available online in advance.

Other spooky events

  • Bellingham Circus Guild’s “Beastly Frightful Spooky Circus of Doom” runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1. The circus guild offers shows for all ages and some shows strictly for those ages 21 and older. Tickets are available online.
  • Ferndale’s “City of Frightdale Halloween Decorating Contest,” a city-wide decorating contest, will run from Friday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Nov. 1. Those wanting to participate in the contest can register online before Oct. 24. At 5 p.m. on Oct. 24. the complete list of participating homes and instructions to vote will be posted on the event’s website.
  • Kids eat free at Applebee’s, all day on Friday, Oct. 31. The restaurant is offering two free kids’ meals per one adult entree purchase. The kids meal is valid for ages 12 and under, and is available in house or for to-go orders with the promotion code, HALLOWEEN 2025. Bellingham’s Applebee’s restaurant is at 1069 E Sunset Dr.
  • Boo at Bloedel & Sensory Friendly Hour, a free event for children in preschool through second grade, will include games and crafts. Headphones, gloves, and fidget toys will be available for participants. During the sensory friendly hour from 1:30-2:30 pm, ages 16 and younger with an adult are welcome. The event is at Bloedel Donovan Community Building at 2214 Electric Ave. in Bellingham.
  • Halloween Ice Skate will run from 7-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 for all ages. Costumes are encouraged, and skating costs $10 per person. The Bellingham Sportsplex is at 1225 Civic Field Way in Bellingham.
  • SUP Sea Monsters, a paddle board and kayak parade, will run from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. Equipment is available to rent and varies in cost from the Community Boating Center. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and bring their own boating gear. Check in starts at 1 p.m. at the Community Boating Center, at 555 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.
  • Drag-ula Halloween Drag Show is a 21 and over event from 8-10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Aslan Depot. The event costs $23.42 online and tickets are required. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and enjoy live music, a drag show, and discounted drinks. Aslan Depot is at 1322 N. State St. in Bellingham.
  • The Haunted Lab, an interactive haunted house experience with games, demonstrations and activities will be at the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. Admission costs $5 per person and can be purchased at the door. SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention is at 1312 Bay St. in Bellingham.
