Carnal listed for sale

Carnal, a downtown Bellingham restaurant known for its live fire cooking and meats, has been listed for sale by its owners.

“After five amazing years and more than 130,000 guests, we’ve decided to put the Carnal restaurant space up for sale so we can focus on expanding our premium meat snack line — born in our kitchen — to a nationwide audience,” Carnal co-owner Skip Williamson told The Herald. “We’ll be taking Carnal’s food program on the road with pop-ups and residencies in Austin, New York and Los Angeles, while making sure the space here gets passed to the right next owner.

Carnal will remain open and operating at full capacity through the transition to new ownership. The restaurant is open regularly from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at 1234 N State St. in downtown Bellingham.

Nightclub opens downtown

The Hut is a new “18+ Dance Club, 2SLGBTQIA+ Drag Club, & Private Nightclub Event Rental” nightclub in downtown Bellingham, and owners have officially opened its doors, according to a social media post.

The grand opening event was held Friday, Aug. 8 and featured a live DJ until 2 a.m.

The new nightclub was launched by the owners of Rumors Cabaret in Bellingham, according to previous reporting by The Herald, which included a sneak peek into the new club.

No official operating hours have been posted. The Hut is at 1115 Railroad Ave. in downtown Bellingham.

Downtown Bellingham bowling alley 20th Century Bowl is temporarily closed due to roof issues.

“I prefer the term Temporary Not Open,” an Aug. 13 social media post on the alley’s profile page states. “We are waiting for engineers to design a plan to repair one of the roof trusses. 4 additional trusses may get the same treatment. I hope to have more information by this Friday about when construction will begin. Looking forward to Fall/Winter leagues starting in September.”
