After five rounds of voting by The Bellingham Herald’s readers, we finally have an answer.
The final round of The Herald’s poll pitted Taqueria Tecalitlan against Mi Rancho Meat Market.
Taqueria Tecalitlan won by a margin of more than 15 percentage points, earning 58% of the final vote compared to Mi Rancho Meat Market’s 42%.
To win the title of best taco shop in Bellingham, Taqueria Tecalitlan defeated local favorites including COA Mexican Eatery and Black Sheep Tacos.

Taqueria Tecalitlan is at 1263 Barkley Blvd. in Bellingham, across the street from Sunset Square.

Yelp reviewer Scott P. of Bellingham said the restaurant serves up “delicious, affordable and authentic Mexican food,” asking “Why would you ever go to Taco Bell?”
“If you’re looking for a great meal under $10, this is the place!” Yelp user Mark O. of Bellingham wrote in his review of Taqueria Tecalitlan.
