New downtown nightclub proposed

An application for a new nightclub liquor license has been filed for “The Den” at 1319 Commercial St. in downtown Bellingham.

The application had not been approved as of July 24.

New bar nears opening

Elk St. Tavern, a sister bar to Redlight Kitchen & Bar in downtown Bellingham, is nearing its grand opening, according to the business’ Instagram page.

New photos of the interior walls, the bar, and dishes have been posted to the account, with no captions to accompany the photos.

The new bar has no official opening date and will be at 1017 N. State St. in Bellingham.

MOTO Pizza opening soon

MOTO Pizza, a unique Seattle-based pizza chain with a new location opening soon in Bellingham, is offering free pizza for a year.

The restaurant’s owner is hosting a local competition giving away a free year of pizzas through a QR code sign-up at the future site of the restaurant.

No opening date has been announced, but the QR code competition sign-up and the future MOTO Pizza is at 4373 Meridian St. in Bellingham.

Whatcom unemployment drops

Whatcom County’s unemployment rate decreased compared to last month, according to data from the Washington State Employment Security Department.

Whatcom County had a 3.5% unemployment rate with 3,949 unemployed people in June, a decrease of 0.5% and 466 people compared to May.
