Irish dancing, live music and beer! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at these Bellingham events

St. Patrick’s Day is Monday, March 17, and many local businesses and bars are celebrating the holiday. Here’s your guide to the festivities in Bellingham:

Runnin’ O’ the Green

Bellingham’s annual Runnin’ O’ the Green 5k and 8k race is back on Saturday, March 15. The run and walk race begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of West Laurel and Cornwall Ave in downtown Bellingham, and ends at the 1000 Block of Railroad Ave., with an award ceremony at Boundary Bay Brewery at 1107 Railroad Ave.

Registration is open online and costs $40 for ages 13 and older and $10 for children 12 and under. Kids in strollers can participate for free.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The annual Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day Parade is back at noon Sunday, March 16 in downtown Bellingham. The parade will start at the downtown waterfront’s parking lot on Laurel Street, travel past Waypoint Park on Granary Avenue, turn right onto West Chestnut Street and right again on Railroad Avenue to end at Depot Market Square. Those interested in participating in the parade can fill out an interest form online at the parade website.

Uisce Irish Pub

Uisce Irish Pub, also known as the “Irish Embassy of Bellingham,” is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day throughout the entire weekend — Friday, March 14 through Monday, March 17.

The pub will have special live music throughout the celebration, bag-pipers, Irish dancers, Irish whiskey and Guinness and Galley To Go fish and chips food truck.

The pub will also have extended hours, and will be open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, noon to 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Monday at 1409 Cornwall Ave. in Bellingham.

Poetry reading at Whatcom Art Market

A special St. Patrick’s Day poetry reading will feature three local poets at 6 p.m. Monday, March 17 at Whatcom Art Market in Bellingham. The Whatcom Art Market is at 1103 11th St.

Concert at The Shakedown

The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar in downtown Bellingham, will host a St. Patrick’s Day concert Monday, March 17 with three bands: Oneida, Kinski and Tangle Map. Tickets are available online in advance. The concert for those age 21 and older.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. at 1212 N State St.

Schweinhaus Biergarten

Schweinhaus Biergarten is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from noon to midnight Monday, March 17. The free event is open for all ages and will feature live music, drink specials and a Shamrock kissing booth.

Schweinhaus Biergarten is at 1330 N State St. in downtown Bellingham.

Brunch at Hotel Leo

Hotel Leo is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Brunch from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 16. The brunch will feature live music, special drinks and Irish-inspired food. Reservations are recommended and can be made online.

Hotel Leo is at 1224 Cornwall Ave in downtown Bellingham.

St. Patrick’s Day weekend at Boundary Bay Brewery

Boundary Bay Brewery is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from Saturday, March 15 through Monday, March 17 with a variety of festive events.

Bands will perform live music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with a $10 cover charge at the door. The event is open to all ages.

On Saturday, the brewery is hosting a parade after-party following the Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day parade, featuring more live music, dancers and Irish foods. The after-party starts at 11 a.m. and is free for all ages.

On Monday the brewery will be celebrating the holiday with live music, Irish food, live Irish dancers and a concert in the beer garden by The Dublin Letters. The beer garden concert costs $10 at the door to attend.

Boundary Bay Brewery is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.

Stones Throw Brewing Co.

Stones Throw Brewing Co. is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17. The free event will include a special beer release, live music, Galley2Go food truck and a Celtic jam session.

Stones Throw Brewing Co. is at 1009 Larrabee Ave. in Bellingham.
