Bellingham’s December events: Tree lightings, markets, trivia, ice skating and more on tap

Bellingham events
▪ Boundary Bay Brewery is hosting an End of Prohibition Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. The free 21-and-older event will include live music from a band performing prohibition-era music, live entertainment and re-enactments by The Good Time Girls, an “old fashioned prohibition protest.” Costumes are encouraged. Boundary Bay Brewery is at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.
▪ The Bellingham Yacht Club Lighted Boat Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with a lineup of decorated boats along the coastline. Viewers can watch the parade from the Cruise Terminal, Taylor Dock and Boulevard Park.
▪ Bellingham’s Downtown Tree Lighting will start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The free event will include free hot chocolate, cookies, activities and the tree lighting at 6 p.m. The event is at 1100 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.
▪ The Fairhaven Firelight Stroll, part of Fairhaven’s monthlong Winterfest celebration, starts at 5 p.m. and takes participants on a walk, lighted by luminaries, from Padden Creek Trail to Stones Throw Brewery. At Stones Throw Brewery, participants can enjoy a Winterfest Bonfire for all ages that includes free hot chocolate, s’mores and live music until 8 p.m. Padden Creek Trail is west of Eighth Street on Harris Ave.
▪ The Shop Small Holiday Makers Market, a free vendor market hosted by Bellingham Makers Market, will run from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 21 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 22 at The Bellingham Cruise Terminal at 355 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.
▪ The Bellingham Sportsplex is hosting a Santa Ice Skate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. The event costs $10 per skater and includes admission, skate rental, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Bellingham Sportsplex is at 1225 Civic Field Way in Bellingham.

Live music in Bellingham

▪ Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music all month. For the music lineup and locations, check the schedule online.
▪ The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.
▪ The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.
▪ Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
