Closed restaurant hosting a furniture sale

Taco Lobo, a Mexican restaurant in downtown Bellingham that closed back in June, is now holding a closeout sale of “Mexican art, table and chairs and miscellaneous items,” according to a social media post.

The sale will open at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 at 117 W Magnolia St.

Portal business expanding

Portal Putt, an outdoor miniature golf course at Bellingham’s waterfront, has filed a building permit with the city of Bellingham to expand its nine-hole course.

The permit was approved Sept. 24. Portal Putt is open seasonally during the summer months at 298 W Laurel St., at The Portal Container Village.

Bellingham Starbucks unionized

Four of Bellingham’s Starbucks coffee shops have now unionized, marking the 500th store to unionize in the United States, according to a news release.

“The Old Fairhaven Parkway and 30th store became the fourth Starbucks in Bellingham to join the union Monday and the 30th in Washington. These baristas join a growing nationwide movement of more than 11,000 baristas working together to win justice at work, including protections on core issues like respect, living wages, racial and gender equity, and fair scheduling,” the news release states.

The employees voted to join the union on Monday, Sept. 30.

Ice cream happy hour

Mallard Ice Cream will now begin hosting happy hour, offering 10% off ice cream and coffee from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, according to a social media post.

Mallard Ice Cream is at 1323 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.
