Whatcom County and WA state gas prices increase, while Bellingham sees slight drop
Gas prices in Whatcom County and Washington state have increased this month, but we found the cheapest gas in Whatcom county for you to save at the pump.
The average price of a gallon of gas across the United States was $3.63 on Friday, May 10, according to the American Automobile Association — 2 cents more than last month’s average.
Gas prices in Washington and Whatcom County also fluctuated this month. Here’s the breakdown:
Washington gas prices
Washington state’s average cost of gas per gallon is now $4.65 — a 53 cent increase from March’s average of $4.12, and the same price as April’s average. Last May, gas averaged $4.58 a gallon in Washington state, 7 cents below the current average, according to AAA.
Although gas prices in Washington state increased throughout most of 2023, prices started to decrease in October. But since February 2024, prices started to increase again.
Washington has the third-highest gas prices in the country, following California at $5.30 a gallon and Hawaii at $4.81 a gallon, according to AAA.
Whatcom county gas prices
Whatcom County’s average cost of gas per gallon has fluctuated throughout 2023 and now in the beginning of 2024.
On Friday, May 10, Bellingham’s average gallon of gas is $4.57 a gallon, according to AAA, a 7-cent decrease from last month’s average of $4.64.
Whatcom County’s average gallon of gas is $4.56 a gallon, a 50-cent increase compared to March.
