Irish music, parades and whiskey! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at these Bellingham events
Saint Patrick’s Day is Sunday, March 17 and local breweries, businesses and venues are hosting festive events for the holiday this weekend.
Here are some Irish events in Whatcom County this weekend:
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Bellingham
The Bellingham St. Patrick’s Day Parade runs from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 in downtown Bellingham.
“The parade was created as a way to honor local Police and Fire personnel and thank them for their hard work and dedication to the community. Lieutenant Claudia Murphy is this year’s Grand Marshal. Lieutenant Murphy’s participation has been instrumental to the parade’s success over the years. She will lead the parade of green clad musicians, dancers, marchers, local businesses, nonprofits, schools and groups which all make Bellingham and Whatcom County unique and special,” a news release from Alison Mestl, the St. Patrick’s Day Liason states.
The parade of starts on Granary Ave., turns right onto Chestnut, and ends on Railroad Ave, in front of Boundary Bay Brewery.
Runnin’ O’ the Green
The Runnin’ O’ the Green run and walk is sold out for those wishing to participate, but you can still go watch participants dressed in kilts, green hats and Irish attire in downtown Bellingham on Saturday, March 16. The 5k and 8k race will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of West Laurel and Cornwall Ave, and end at the 1000 block of Railroad Ave., where awards will be given out at Boundary Bay Brewery.
St. Patrick’s Shenanigans weekend at Boundary Bay
Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day Shenanigans, a weekend celebration with live music, Irish dancing, Irish foods and family fun. The restaurant and brewery will have a variety of live bands starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 and noon on Sunday, March 17. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made in person or by calling 360-647-5593. Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro is at 1107 Railroad Ave. in Bellingham.
Three-Day St. Patrick’s Celebration at Skylark’s
Skylark’s Hidden Cafe will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with 400 pounds of corned beef and cabbage, Irish whiskey and Guinness on tap. The restaurant will have festive specials for brunch, lunch and dinner on March 15-17 and will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

St. Patrick’s Day at The Blue Abode Bar
The Blue Abode Bar will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. The bar will have special food and drinks, live Irish music by The Problem Band and customers who wear green will receive 10% off an appetizer.
The Blue Abode Bar is open from 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday, 2 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at 2925 Newmarket Street Suite #104 in Bellingham.
St. Paddy’s Day at Stones Throw
Stones Throw Brewery will be open from 2-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a special beer release, live music and Galley2Go food truck. Stones Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave. in Bellingham.
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Corner Taphouse
Corner Taphouse is having special themed drink specials all day on Sunday, March 17. The taphouse has a variety of local beer on tap, wine and cider and has shuffleboard and other games for guests. Corner Taphouse is open from noon to 10 p.m. on March 17 at 1125 Finnegan Way, #103 in Bellingham.
Folk Club at The Blue Room
The Blue Room will have The Devillies, an Irish-American folk group playing live music at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, playing “an eclectic mix of originals and traditional tunes and songs made for dancing, crying, and laughing,” according to the venue’s website. The Blue Room will also have happy hour-priced drinks from 2-3 p.m. The event is open to all ages and tickets can be purchased online or at the door with a suggested donation of $10-$20. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St. Units 301 in Bellingham.
St. Patrick’s Day specials at Gruff
Gruff Brewing Co. is serving specials for St. Patrick’s Day from Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17. The specials include themed drinks and discounts on Irish whiskey.
Gruff Brewing Co. is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday at 104 E Maple St. in Bellingham.
