You might miss your morning coffee if this is your Starbucks

A Starbucks location in Bellingham is the target of a “double-down” strike this weekend, according to a statement from a union that represents workers at more than 250 of the worldwide coffee giant’s U.S. locations.

Starbucks Workers United is targeting the company’s location at 814 Iowa St. with a picket line at 7-10 a.m. daily from Friday, Dec. 16, through Sunday, Dec. 18.

That location near Interstate 5 is the company’s busiest in Bellingham, striking workers told The Bellingham Herald when they staged a walkout on Starbucks’ popular Red Cup Day in November.

This weekend’s strike is protesting the company’s closure of eight unionized shops in several U.S. cities including Seattle, a move that union organizers said amounts to strike-breaking tactics.
