New brewery opening, wine delivery service starts, restaurant menu changes
Here’s a roundup of the latest retail activity around Whatcom County:
El Sueñito opening
El Sueñito Brewing Company is preparing to open in Bellingham soon, as the restaurant is finishing construction, ordering supplies and hiring beer and food tenders and line cooks. The new restaurant has not announced an opening date but wrote on Facebook that construction is almost complete. The restaurant will be at 1926 Humboldt St.
Black Fern delivery
Black Fern, a Bellingham coffee shop, known for its local treats and drinks will now deliver to your home. Customers can order bottles of wine, spritzers, ciders and beer online to be delivered to their home, or to be picked up at the shop. Local Bellingham customers can expect delivery wait times between 40-45 minutes. Black Fern coffee shop is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is at 1211 Granary Ave.
New ownership
Latitude Kitchen & Bar’s recent change of ownership has brought a new menu to the Bellingham restaurants as well as building and decor updates. The new menu was announced on Oct. 13 on the restaurant’s Facebook page and features dishes such as chicken cordon bleu, fish and chips, gochujang chicken burgers, as well as a breakfast menu. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is at 1065 E. Sunset Drive.
Extended hours
The Whatcom Humane Society’s thrift shop expanded its hours of operation on Friday, Dec. 1. The thrift shop will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Donations will also be accepted 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Whatcom Human Society Thrift Shop is at 4151 Meridian St. in Bellingham.
Storefront opens
Hela Provisions, a specialty grocery and gift basket retailer, has opened a brick-and-mortar storefront for the online shop. Started by Anna Marie Adams, the co-founder and former co-owner of Old World Deli in Bellingham, the shop carries specialty foods such as wines, sauces, cocktail accompaniments, seasonings and spreads. Customers can shop online or in person. The shop will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday, Dec. 5, according to a news release from Hela Provisions. The shop is at 2000 Franklin St. in Bellingham.
