Restaurant reopens, flower shop set to close and Bellingham holiday market planned
A roundup of Whatcom County business tidbits:
▪ Rebecca’s Flower Shoppe of Fairhaven will close its doors at the end of the year when the owner retires.
According to a post on the business’s Facebook page, the 1003 Harris Ave. story will close Dec. 31. Until then, the store will have deals on hard goods and fixtures.
▪ Goat Mountain Restaurant & Bar has announced its new location will open this week in downtown Bellingham.
The new location at 215 W. Holly St., will have a grand opening at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25. The restaurant will offer a limited food and drink menu at first, and all ages will be welcome at the new location, according to a Facebook post by the business.
Goat Mountain originally opened in 2012 but closed in 2019 to “rediscover itself” and allow its sister restaurant, Black Sheep, to grow, according to its closing announcement in 2019. Now, after four years, the pizza restaurant will be reopening in the location between Black Sheep and Lorikeet Bar.
▪ Quantum Leaf in Bellingham is for sale, but will remain open until another business decides to buy the business or lease the space.
The vegan restaurant, located at 1149 N. State St., opened in March. According to Facebook and Instagram posts from the owners, health issues are the primary reason for closing the business. The business reopened its dine-in service and will continue operating until another business takes over, which could take more than a year, according to the social media posts.
▪ Bellingham Makers Market will present a Shop Small Saturday event later this month, offering holiday shopping and local vendors.
The event will be from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at 1211 Granary Ave. Almost 50 vendors will be present at the event offering local goods such as soaps, candles, jewelry, art, food and more.
▪ ROAM Coffee + Beer, a new coffee spot by Wander Brewing, officially opened last week after beginning operations with a soft opening.
Located at 1205 Washington St., the new business will offer coffee and Wander Brewing beer to customers, according to its announcement post on Facebook. Announcements and renovations of the building began in July of this year for the location just down the street from the company’s brewery. Hours will be daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
