New dentist in Bellingham will offer specialty dental care
A new specialty dentistry office is coming to Bellingham offering a “systemic and whole body” approach.
Dr. Chaz Vittitow will open The Local Dentist at 2219 Rimland Drive in Bellingham the week of Dec. 12.
Vittitow said the office will serve patients beyond basic dental care. The office will also treat patients for sleep disorders and other diseases through treatment of the mouth.
“A healthy mouth will help avoid a whole host of other issues,” Vittitow said in an email to The Bellingham Herald. “It’s my job as a dentist to give you all the information and treatment to ensure the highest level of oral health.”
Vittitow said he will be the first board-certified doctor in Whatcom County through the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. This means in addition to regular teeth care, Vittitow can treat the symptoms of sleep disorders. Symptoms could include snoring, teeth grinding and daytime sleepiness.
Vittitow said he gained his passion for sleep medicine during his time as a dentist in the Navy. During his service, he had to use dental methods of treatment to help sailors breathe and sleep better when at sea.
The office is taking calls for appointments now at 360-543-8488.
In addition, The Local Dentist will be donating a new bicycle or a stocked pantry to the Bellingham refugee family for every 30 new patients.
