Downtown Bellingham restaurant reopens indoor dining; clothing store coming to Fairhaven

Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity around Whatcom County:

The Bagelry in downtown Bellingham opened for dine-in services on Thursday, April 28. The longtime Railroad Avenue eatery was operating on a take-out basis throughout much of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a Facebook post, the return of dine-in also means more items are back on the menu, including desserts and omelets.

Anytime Toffee in Ferndale is having a grand opening event from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. The store, which is at 5703 Third Ave., offers handcrafted, small-batch toffee as well as specialty boxes. Details can be found on its website.

A building permit application was recently submitted to put in a dog training facility in the former Perch & Place space at 1707 N. State St. The dog training business is The Pawsitive Pooch, which is currently located nearby. According to a Facebook post, the Pawsitive Pooch is aiming to open in the bigger space soon as it finalizes a few details.

Betty Be Good Boutique announced that it will be opening its third Whatcom County store in Fairhaven.

The women’s clothing store will be on Finnegan Way, near the Filling Station. The store’s other locations are in Lynden and Birch Bay.

The C Shop in Birch Bay announced it will be open on weekends this spring starting Friday, May 6, through Father’s Day, June 19, before expanding hours during the summer. The candy shop, which is at 4825 Alderson Road, offers treats including caramel corn, cotton candy, caramel apples and chocolate.

Other Birch Bay attractions are also getting ready for the spring/summer season. Station 49, which features a go-cart track and a mini-golf course on 4620 Birch Bay-Lynden Road, is aiming for weekend openings starting Saturday, May 14. The Birch Bay Waterslides will start its weekend openings on June 4.
