The two Bellingham Fred Meyer stores will host a hiring event on Saturday, April 30, as its parent company plans to add 23,000 workers this spring.

The two Bellingham stores currently have 28 open positions in various departments, said Tiffany Sanders, QFC corporate affairs director. Fred Meyer and QFC stores are part of Kroger, which is planning the hiring event throughout the company.

Interested applicants can walk into either the Lakeway or Bakerview stores to apply. There will be a table set up near one of the entrances and an associate can help them apply, Sanders said. Potential candidates can also get details on specific open positions on the Kroger website.

According to a news release, positions include full-time and part-time work with benefits that offer flexible schedules.
