This taphouse makes plans for Fairhaven. Also, ice cream coming to Granary Building
Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity around Whatcom County:
▪ A state liquor license application was submitted for a new drinking establishment in Fairhaven. The proposed name is Corner Taphouse, going in at 1125 Finnegan Way, across the street from The Filling Station. The applicants are James Quick, James Weber and Carrie Weber.
▪ An ice cream business is going into the Granary Building on Bellingham’s waterfront. The business is Cryo Rolls, which serves up rolled ice cream.
The business does catering and home deliveries, according to its website.
The rolled ice cream products made by Cryo Rolls have very little air, creating a creamier texture. Along with dairy, the menu offers non-dairy and vegan options.
Izaiah Ellis, founder of Cryo Rolls, said in an email that they are currently awaiting permit approval and plan to open in July.
Details and opening day updates can be found on social media, including Facebook.
▪ Kiniski’s Reef in Point Roberts announced on Facebook that it is reopening for the season in May. The waterfront bar and grill closed for the winter season in October.
▪ Mambo Italiano announced on social media that it is now offering lunch every day.
The lunch menu will be offered from noon to 3 p.m., while the restaurant’s regular hours are noon to 9 p.m.
▪ Toakom Asian Bistro will begin offering dine-in services on Thursday, April 28. The restaurant, which is in the Barkley Crossroads center near Lowe’s Home Improvement, has offered only take-out through much of the COVID-19 pandemic.
▪ Circa, a contemporary retail pottery shop and gallery, will have a grand opening celebration 5-10 p.m. on Friday, May 6, during the First Friday Art Walk.
The gallery entrance is in the alley between Cornwall and Commercial avenues, in the space formerly home to Brazen, which recently moved into a nearby space.
Circa will feature handmade goods by local and regional artists. During the grand opening, guests can meet some of the more than 20 featured artists.
“We aim to create a space that showcases our vibrant, contemporary local clay community,” said co-owner Brittany Schade who, like co-owner Erica Davidson, is a lifelong artist.
Details about the gallery can be found on its website.
