After pausing for a year, this bus company is back offering service to Seattle, Oregon
A popular bus service is coming back to Bellingham with the hope of eventually adding a new service to Canada.
Flixbus announced that it is relaunching its operations in Bellingham, with stops south all the way to Eugene, Oregon. Available stops include Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Everett, Portland, Salem and Corvallis. The Flixbus stop in Bellingham will be at Western Washington University, with service starting on Thursday, April 7, and operating most days of the week.
Flixbus, known for its bright green buses, expanded into Bellingham in May 2021, but parts of the Pacific Northwest service were soon paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortage of drivers. Beginning Thursday, the service is here to stay, said Sean Hanft, public relations manager for the company. According to a news release, the Pacific Northwest was one of the most popular routes for the company.
Hanft said the company is also working on plans to add bus service to Vancouver, B.C. The company is currently going through a cross-border authorization process and hopes to have the service available later this year or early 2023.
Flixbus has a varying price structure based on demand and how far ahead the reservation is made. A check on its website found a ticket for a trip from Bellingham to Seattle later this month ranged from $7 to $15, depending on the day. The company also offers “CO2 Compensation” tickets, with the extra money raised going to the National Forest Foundation.
