New beer delivery service, more food options on Bellingham waterfront and a sign of summer
Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity around Whatcom County:
▪ A new online store is offering subscription and gift box deliveries of beer, cider and seltzer from craft breweries including from Bellingham.
Beer Fridge is currently shipping products throughout Washington state and Oregon, with plans to add more states soon, said Jacob Bassett, who co-founded the business with Travis Kane.
During its soft-opening one of its best sellers is the Bellingham Born & Brewed box, which rotates its selection monthly. Bassett wrote in an email that so far this service has been popular as a gift option for birthdays and special occasions. The company plans on having curated boxes for major holidays, including Mother’s Day.
Along with shipping, the business also offers free local delivery in Bellingham’s 98225, 98226 and 98229 zip codes. The plan is to add more local zip codes as the company grows, Bassett said.
When asked about shipping alcoholic products through the mail, Bassett said they are fully licensed and compliant in the states they ship to. The company also ships non-alcoholic craft beer to 43 states and also has a variety of merchandise for sale in its online store.
The company started in February and is planning a grand opening sale on Friday, April 1. For further details about the company, visit getbeerfridge.com.
