Bellingham Farmers Market is ready for a new season and its old traditions. Here’s when

In one more sign that things are getting back to normal, the cabbage toss is back to signify the new season of the Bellingham Farmers Market.

The market has opened without the cabbage toss tradition for the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s toss on Saturday, April 2, will also mark the market’s 30th anniversary, according to a news release.

Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood will be among the participants at the event, which starts at 9:45 a.m. The market itself will open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1100 Railroad Ave.

Weekly markets will we held April 2 through Dec 17.

This year the Saturday market will have more than 80 vendors from Whatcom and Skagit counties. New vendors include Waffles in Paradise, Shambala Ancient Grain Bakery, pH8 Vertical Farm, and Steensman Creamery.
