Whatcom County health department reports 2 new coronavirus cases, no deaths Wednesday

Two more Whatcom County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, the Whatcom County Health Department reported on Wednesday, May 13, but no new deaths related to coronavirus were recorded.

The county now has had 344 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March 10, according to health department statistics, and 32 of those people have died.

The health department also reported 372 negative tests results Wednesday, bringing the total to 3,607.

St. Joseph hospital in Bellingham reported Wednesday that it is currently treating one patient who has tested positive for COVID-19 and another patient who is awaiting test results.

More than 4.3 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 294,000 deaths as of Wednesday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States has more than 1.3 million confirmed cases — the most reported cases of any nation — with at least 83,150 deaths.

Overall, the Washington State Department of Health reported 17,330 cases and 962 deaths Tuesday evening.
