Whatcom County reports one new coronavirus case Wednesday, but no deaths

The Whatcom County Health Department reported Wednesday, April 22, that one more resident in the county has tested positive for COVID-19 and there were no new deaths associated with the new coronavirus.

The county now has 281 residents that have tested positive, according to the health department, and 27 deaths of people that have tested positive.

Whatcom has seen 20 new positive tests since April 11, according to data released by the health department, which last week announced the county may be on the downside of the first wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.

More than 2.6 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 181,000 deaths as of Wednesday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University. The United States has more than 834,800 confirmed cases — the most reported cases of any nation — with at least 45,894 deaths.
