Small-business coronavirus emergency grants no longer available for Whatcom County

It didn’t take long for Whatcom and Skagit counties to reach the state’s limits on small business emergency grants.

The Washington State Department of Commerce announced that it is no longer accepting applications for those grants across several counties due to “overwhelming volume.”

The grant program provided a limited number of businesses in Washington’s 39 counties with a grant up to $10,000 as companies grapple with the coronavirus pandemic. Up to $5 million in funds are provided through the Governor’s Strategic Reserve Fund.

Most of the Western Washington counties reached the limit, although San Juan and Pierce Counties were still taking applications as of Monday morning, April 14.
