Ferndale’s Superfeet will make 30,000 masks for area hospitals fighting coronavirus

A week after announcing it is shifting some of its operations to medical equipment to combat the coronavirus pandemic, Ferndale manufacturer Superfeet is starting production on 30,000 masks.

The masks are being manufactured with the help of 3D printers. With the capability of making about 1,000 personal protective equipment masks a day, the company should have them made and distributed to hospitals in the Pacific Northwest over the next four weeks.

“We started conversations with local hospitals and healthcare workers last week and discovered a massive need for PPE (personal protective equipment), as demand has skyrocketed over the past few weeks,” John Rauvola, CEO and president at Superfeet, said in a news release. “You can feel the pride our team of employee-owners takes in being able to create something tangible to help combat this pandemic and better protect our community’s first line of defense.”

Superfeet continues to offer their 3D printers and manufacturing capabilities in the effort to combat COVID-19. Medical facilities in need of PPE, can email covidresponse@superfeet.com for details.

Superfeet is an employee-owned company known for manufacturing insoles and footwear. Its sister company, Flowbuilt, has the 3D printer technology and is also in Ferndale.
