Wondering what’s going on at the Port? You’re invited to check it out at two open houses

The Port of Bellingham is inviting the community to see what goes on under their roof during two public open houses this fall.

“The Bellingham Shipping Terminal is one of only 11 deep-water ports in Washington and this unique opportunity will provide an inside look into how the Port is modernizing the terminal to create jobs in one of the most trade dependent states in America,” a new release from The Port states.

During the open houses, Port staff will be available to answer visitor’s questions and provide information on The Port’s operations, environmental cleanup, stormwater management, ongoing and future projects, management practices and more.

“Community members will also learn about the types of cargo and cargo vessels being recruited for the terminal along with the widespread economic benefits of increased shipping activity,” the new release states.

The open houses will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 and from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at 661 Cornwall Ave. The open houses are free, open to the public and no reservation is required.

Additional open house dates may be added, according to the news release.
