Whatcom Roundup: Texas Roadhouse opening announced; Spirit of Halloween returns
Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:
Spirit of Halloween opens
Spirit of Halloween, the chain Halloween costume and decor store, has popped up in Bellingham for the spooky season. The store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at 110 West Stuart Rd, between BevMo and Big 5 Sporting Goods.
The seasonal store will be open throughout August, September and October. No exact closing date has been announced.
Texas Roadhouse announces opening
Texas Roadhouse, the long-awaited chain restaurant, has announced its Bellingham restaurant opening on its website.
The new location at 4331 Meridian St. will open in October. No official opening date has been announced, but job openings for the new restaurant have been posted online.
The restaurant’s construction has also made major progress since the tear-down of the previous building that wa home to Billy McHale’s Restaurant. The new building now has a Texas state flag and an American flag hanging above it as it is being completed.
Northwest Washington Fair returns
The Northwest Washington Fair has returned to Lynden and will run from Aug. 8-17.
The annual fair includes live entertainment and Grandstand shows, carnival rides, rodeos, food trucks, farm animals, live music, treats, a live circus and more.

The NW WA Fair is at 1775 Front St. in Lynden and is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day of the fair.
