Business tidbits: Restaurant no longer for sale, burger joint adds breakfast, free meals

Here’s your weekly roundup of the latest retail, business and restaurant activity in and around Whatcom County:

The Black Cat is no longer for sale

On Oct. 21, The Bellingham Herald put together a list of Whatcom County restaurants that were listed for sale. Since then, to customers’ delight, the owners of The Black Cat restaurant in Fairhaven have decided not to sell the restaurant and have pulled the real estate listing, according to an email from Chevy Roberts, the restaurant’s general manager.

The Black Cat is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The Black Cat offers a late-night menu after 10 p.m. until close, and is located at 1200 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.

The Filling Station adds breakfast menu

The Filling Station, a burger joint with two Bellingham locations, has now added a breakfast menu. The Alabama street location will offer breakfast dine-in and to-go from 7-11 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The menu includes egg scrambles, breakfast tacos, fried chicken and French toast, pancakes, polenta cake and avocado toast, according to an email from the restaurant.

The Filling Station at 716 Alabama St. is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The 1138 Finnegan Way location is open from 11 a.m to 9 p.m. daily.

Applebee’s offers free meals for Halloween

Certain Applebee’s restaurants across the country, including in Bellingham, will be offering free kids meals on Tuesday, Oct. 31 for Halloween.

Visitors can get a free kids’ meal all day if they mention this offer and purchase one adult entree. The deal is limited to one kid’s menu meal for a child 12 years old and under, per adult entree purchased, and the deal cannot be combined with any offer discount or offer, according to an email from a company public relations representative.

Bellingham’s Applebee’s restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and is at 1069 E. Sunset Drive.
