A new fire cupping and massage practice is opening in Bellingham, offering ancient forms of therapy from Asia, the Middle East, and Russia.

BlueStone FireCupping & Massage had a soft opening on Monday, July 17, and will offer a variety of massages, fire cupping, hot stones and other therapy services by appointment only.

The new practice at 4145 Meridian St., Suite 102, Bellingham, is led by Craig Hoeffner, a licensed massage therapist and a former creative partner from Resilient Acupuncture and Fire Cupping in Bellingham.

“Our goal is to relieve pain, restore proper function and reduce stress. Our patients leave feeling better with less stress,” the practice’s website states.

Prices vary based on the service type and length of time, and all services range from $85-$120.

Hoeffner’s fire cupping therapy is one of the most popular, providing pain relief and even removing toxins.

“Fire cupping is an ancient form of therapy, commonly know to come from ancient Asia, Middle East, and even as far north as Russia. It’s the use of glass cups and fire, the fire removes the oxygen from inside the cup, the cup is quickly placed on the skin {and] a vacuum is formed. It’s amazing for breaking up scar tissue, tight muscles, and increasing the flow of the body’s natural fluids to expedite the nourishment and removal of waste from muscle cells. Plus it feels amazing,” Hoeffner wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.

Visitors can also get an intra-oral massage to address TMJ issues, lock jaw, jaw clenching issues, or a deep tissue massage to realign deep layer of muscles and relieve chronic pain, muscle tension and help past injuries, Hoeffner wrote.

Blue Stone Firecupping & Massage is open for appointments only from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Appointments can be made online or by calling 1-360-451-2882.
