Here’s a roundup of the latest retail and restaurant activity around Whatcom County:

New cocktail lounge

A new cocktail lounge in Bellingham has filed for liquor and catering licenses through the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board. The new cocktail bar, The Admiralty Lounge, has posted job listings but has no opening date or social media pages yet. The lounge will be located next to the Mount Baker Theatre at 100 N. Commercial St.

Bellingham cooking classes

The Community Food Co-op and Whatcom Community College have teamed up to offer cooking classes through March. Classes vary by topic and teacher, but teach how to make food and desserts such as Japanese izakaya dishes, chocolates, pierogies, risotto and more. Participants can register online and classes range from $49 to $99. Classes are held at the Connections Building at 405 E. Holly St. in Bellingham.

New yoga studio

The Lynden Yoga Collective studio opened in December 2022 and offers yoga classes, massage therapy, meditation classes, a wellness boutique and yoga training. The studio offers many different classes for all experience levels, and those who are interested can view the schedule and register online. The studio offers classes throughout the day and is located at 406 and 408 Front St.

Pre-order Valentine’s sweets

With Valentine’s Day less than a month away, It’s The Sweet Things Bakery is opening Valentine’s treat pre-orders. Orders must be made by Sunday, Feb. 5, online or in-store, and can be picked up on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Feb. 11, 12 or 14.

The menu includes a heart-shaped strawberry champagne cake, chocolate-covered strawberries, truffles and a chocolate raspberry cake. It’s The Sweet Things Bakery is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays, and is at 1206 Cornwall Ave. in Bellingham.

Consignment discounts

Bella Boutique & Consignment offers discounts for customers who are students or 55 years and older on certain days of the week. According to a recent Facebook post by the shop, seniors can receive 10% off their purchases on Mondays and students with a student ID can receive 10% off on Saturdays.

The boutique sells clothing and accessories for men, women and junior styles, as well as small home decor items. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, and is in Ferndale at 1887 Main St.

Bantam drink discounts

Bantam Kitchen & Bar is offering a menu of late-night cocktails for $10 and $2 off glass pours of wine. The “last-hour specials” include five discounted cocktails available the last hour the bar is open on Friday and Saturdays.

Bantam is open from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is in Bellingham at 1327 Railroad Ave.
