Restaurant team opens French bistro, yoga studio closes and Bellingham businesses win awards

Estelle, a new French bistro from the team behind Carnal, opened this week in Fairhaven.

Located at 1147 11th St. and officially open Oct. 26, the new location will feature an “approachable menu and evokes a French Riviera vibe,” according to a press release. The mainstays of the menu will include seasonal seafood and produce as well as oysters.

Estelle will be the third restaurant in Bellingham by the team of James Zamory, Aaron Saurer and Sean McDemott after Carnal and Accomplice. Hours of the new restaurant will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, and will be open until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Yoga Northwest of Fairhaven announced its intention to close at the end of next month after almost 40 years.

The yoga studio, located in Fairhaven at 1440 10th St., announced its closure on the business’s website. Weekly classes will continue through the end of November, according to the announcement.

Open house days will be held in November and offer hot cider and the opportunity to purchase discounted yoga merchandise and equipment. Open houses will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 12 and 13. A final open house and sale will be held Nov. 26 and 27.

The Bagelry in downtown Bellingham announced the return of its catering service.

Catering services will be limited to Tuesday through Saturday as the business trains more staff. The Bagelry is “rebuilding our catering department from scratch,” according to its website.

Catering platter options include sandwiches, baked goods, and bulk bagels. More information can be found on the Bagelry website.

Cherry Bomb Esthetics opened in September offering a “fresh take on the traditional spa experience” in downtown Bellingham.

The business is located in the former Bank of Bellingham building at 103 E Holly St. Services include waxing, facials, eyelash and brow services.

Officially opened on Sept. 16, Cherry Bomb Esthetics said it provides services based on inclusivity and affordability. More information can be found on its website.

The Downtown Bellingham Partnership announced its decision for the 2022 Scepter Award Winners this week in a Facebook Post.

Awards were announced for businesses in the categories of downtown hero, transformative space and excellence in art, among several more. Winners named included The Blue Room, Chuckanut Bay Distillery and several Bellingham business owners.

A community celebration and party will be held Nov. 14 to honor the award winners. It will happen at the Wild Buffalo House of Music and will feature an open bar, catered food and prizes, according to the Downtown Bellingham website. Banter Hospitality of Downtown Bellingham is set to close its location in November, according to reporting done by The Front.

Located at 119 N. Commercial St., Banter will be closed and the location will convert to office spaces, according to the report. The location will merge with its After Hours location, making it the new headquarters.
