Local coffee debuts, poke restaurant reopens and popular Mexican restaurant takes a break

Fairhaven Poke advertised its “re-re-opening” Oct. 1 and 2 on an Instagram post. David Jacobsen, the former owner, originally closed the doors on Sept. 6.

A longtime manager of Fairhaven Poke, Diana Douglas, is the new owner. According to the company website, the recipes, staff and location will not change. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

Pure Bliss Desserts in Downtown Bellingham will celebrate its 12-year anniversary later this month.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, the restaurant will offer 20% off all purchases along with raffles, prizes and free petite cakes. More information can be found on the Pure Bliss website.

Forecast Coffee, a coffee company based in Bellingham, will be releasing its coffees in stores later this month.

According to a news release, Forecast Coffee will be available at Sprouts Farmers Market, PCC Community Markets and Haggen. The company is focusing its production on being environmentally friendly. Forecast plans on donating 5% of its profit to reforestation efforts, as well as focusing on agroforestry and maintaining a carbon-neutral roaster.

Pepper Sisters Southwestern cuisine restaurant temporarily closed on Oct. 3. The restaurant is closing for “sprucing up” and changes in staffing, according to a Facebook post. It is hoping to reopen in December, although the post does not give an exact date.

The announcement comes after several posts during the summer indicated issues with staffing at the restaurant.

Maple.bar Cafe launched its soft-opening phase this week, according to its Facebook page and website. Find it at 4252 Cordata Parkway. It offers specialty coffees, energy drinks, doughnuts and other pastries.

According to its Facebook page, Maple.bar will be open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It will begin with a limited menu and reduced hours. However, a grand opening, yet to be announced, will expand both.
