Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity around Whatcom County:

The Quinn & Foster clothing store in downtown Bellingham is moving to Fairhaven this summer.

Owner Chris Hayward said she doesn’t have an exact opening date set yet, but the lease for her downtown Holly Street space runs until the end of August. The new space will be in the ground floor commercial space of the new apartment building on 1000 McKenzie Ave., near Skylark’s Cafe.

Hayward said she decided to move the store, which has been downtown since 2017, because much of the store’s customer base tends to shop in the Fairhaven area. Hayward plans to continue to carry the same clothing lines, but will adjust according to what her customers want.

Currently, Hayward is planning a moving sale sometime in July. Details about the clothing store can be found on its website.

Another business recently moved, this time from Fairhaven into the downtown district.

Reference Media, a locally owned audio video shop, moved to 1611 N. State St., near the Kona Bike Shop. The company was in Fairhaven for 18 years before making the move.

The larger building will allow the company to bring in more products, including a range of home theater equipment. The new store will also have low voltage lighting systems, automated shading and smart-home equipment, according to a news release.

For those looking for a quick hair touch-up or shampoo, Fairhaven’s Bella Body & Sol has opened a blowout bar next door at 910 Harris Ave.

Blowout bars, also known as dry bars, are places where clients can get a quick hair wash, blow-dry and styling without a haircut. The Bella Blowout Bar will also offer up-dos, bridal hair, braiding as well as services for children’s hair.

“We wash, dry and style your hair so you don’t have to,” said owner Heather Gauf, who opened Bella Body & Sol in 2013.

Bella Body & Sol also offers D-Light therapy tanning towers and an organic spa. For further details, visit the company’s website.

Luxe Thai Cuisine in Ferndale announced on social media that it is temporarily closed while undergoing some renovations. The restaurant is expected to reopen later this month.
