Townhomes near Bellingham Golf & Country Club among planned housing construction
Expect to see plenty of home construction activity in Bellingham this spring and summer with projects already approved: More than 1,300 residential units are currently under construction, according to city data.
Here’s a roundup of major projects that are in the planning stages or were recently submitted for permit review:
▪ Plans for a significant residential project near the Bellingham Golf & Country Club were recently submitted to the city.
The proposal is to build 68 residential townhouse units and parking along the north side of Meridian Street between Birchwood Avenue and Orchard Drive. The homes would front Meridian Street and be near some of the golf holes at the county club.
A Zoom meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, to answer questions about the project. Details about the meeting can be found on the city’s website.
▪ A design review permit and a parking waiver application was submitted for a two-story commercial building next to an existing gas station store at 415 E. Holly St.
The total square footage is a little over 1,500 square feet and the applicant is asking for a waiver on three parking spaces. Comments are being accepted through Monday, March 14, and can be sent to Planner Ryan Nelson at rnelson@cob.org.
▪ Building permit applications were recently submitted to build a three-story, 19-unit apartment at 1809 E. Sunset Drive, near the Woburn Street intersection.
