Back on the waterfront, the Wednesday Bellingham farmers market has these new vendors

Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity around Whatcom County:

For those already dreaming about those upcoming warm summer days, residents can look forward to new things at the Wednesday Bellingham Farmers Market.

In an email, Market Director Lora Liegel said she’s excited about this year’s slate of vendors, a number of which will be providing more food options to the market. The Wednesday market will be on the waterfront near Waypoint Park 4-7 p.m. June 1 through Sept. 14.

Some of the food vendors planning to be at the Wednesday market include Hungry Street food truck (American/Venezuelan cuisine), Buu Chan (Asian cuisine), Hawthorn Kitchen (organic, local lunch and snacks), Holly’s Meat Pies and Shambala Ancient Grain Bakery (gluten free baked goods).

The Wednesday market will have around 25 vendors, while the Saturday market at the Depot Market Square has around 80 vendors, Liegel said.

The Saturday market will kick off its 30th season on April 2. In a sign of a new normal during this pandemic, the cabbage toss with Mayor Seth Fleetwood is expected to return. With the omicron COVID-19 wave appearing to be fading, the market plans at this point to recommend masks be used, but not require it.

Details about both markets can be found on the Bellingham Farmers Market website.
