New grocery store, health clinic coming to Whatcom County
Here’s a roundup of recent business changes around Whatcom County:
▪ It appears Sumas is getting a grocery store. A liquor license application was submitted to operate a store at 944 Cherry St., near the Edaleen Dairy store and the U.S. border crossing.
The proposed name is Sumas Market and the applicants are Sarabjit Malhi, Jaswinder Malhi and Beth Arundeep. According to county property records, the building has more than 7,200 square feet of space.
▪ A city sign permit application was submitted for a new clinic going into the Sehome Shopping Center, near Ace Hardware. It is called Kinwell, which has eight other clinics in Washington state. According to its website, the primary care facility’s goal is to incorporate more wellness and prevention practices when it comes to health.
▪ Brazen Shop & Studio is in the process of moving from its alley location to the front space of Cornwall Avenue. According to a Facebook post, the studio will open in the front space of the 1319 Cornwall Ave. building in March.
