A broken water pipe has led to the closure of the Regal Barkley Village movie theater.

The broken pipe led the cancellation of movies for the 16-screen movie theater on Monday, Dec. 27. A sign was posted on the front door indicated the theater would remain closed on Tuesday, Dec. 28. A plumbing truck was parked in front of the movie theater on Tuesday morning.

On the Regal Cinemas website, no movie listings were listed for the Barkley theater except for a single showing of “Cinderella” on Saturday, Jan. 1.

Email and voicemail messages left Monday for Regal Cinema’s officials in the corporate office were not returned.

With Whatcom County still in a deep freeze, frozen and broken pipes are an issue. On Facebook, a Ferndale cafe called The Meeting Place reported significant water damage throughout the cafe, resulting in its closure.
