Hurt by the pandemic, a long-time local catering business is shutting down

In an email to customers that was also posted on Facebook, Haggen Market Street Catering announced it was ending operations, with a tentative closure date of Wednesday, Sept. 30. The company plans on refunding the deposits of all future events, according to the email.

According to its website, five people staffed the catering department, including an executive chef and an executive sous chef. The company declined to comment beyond what was posted in the email to customers.

The catering business, which started in 2000, was known for its work handling events from office lunches to weddings. Market Street also was had a popular holiday meals service that included turkey, ham and prime rib options.

The company estimates that it has catered more than 45,000 events, serving more than 1.5 million people in those 20 years.
