▪ Boy Howdy, the bar on Holly Street near Black Sheep, will soon have a new name and look. It is called Lorikeet, named after the tropical bird, and will have a similar business plan as its sister company Black Sheep.
The plan is to have Lorikeet open later this month, offering a tropical menu and cocktails that include plenty of daiquiri options. It will also have plenty of outdoor seating with the Holly Street closure.
▪ Beach Cat Brewing in Birch Bay opened on Wednesday, Aug. 5. On Facebook, Beach Cat describes itself as a nano-brewery that wants to make award-winning craft beer. It is at 7876 Birch Bay Drive, near CJ’s Beach House.
▪ Elizabeth Station is now offering pizza for dine-in and takeout, according to an announcement on Facebook. The store, which is at 1400 W. Holly St. and is known for its wide range of craft beers, will offer five different styles of pizza Thursday through Sunday each week.
▪ Permits were submitted to put in an Anytime Fitness studio at 3125 Old Fairhaven Parkway, in the retail center near Interstate 5.
▪ A neighborhood meeting has been scheduled to discuss plans for the former deWilde’s Nursery property at 3410 Northwest Ave.
