Bellingham has new meat pie eatery; cocktail bar in the works near Mt. Baker Theatre

Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity in Whatcom County:

Good to Go Meat Pies recently opened its downtown Bellingham.

The new spot is at 1306 Commercial St., on the sidewalk level of the Commercial Street Parking Garage. During this phase of the COVID-19 pandemic the business has limited hours: It is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, selling frozen pasties for curbside pickup.

Good To Go Meat Pies is known for its old-style pasty, a meat pie that is folded in a way that is easy to carry and consume. Owner Holly Bevan-Bumford opened her first Good To Go eatery eight years ago in Everson, later adding a Lynden location. In order to open the Bellingham spot, she decided to close the Lynden eatery last year.

Bevan-Bumford said she’s excited about getting the downtown Bellingham spot open, but wants to remain focused on safety during the pandemic. She is holding off on serving heated meat pies and a grand opening event until Whatcom is further along in its phase reopening plans.

A state liquor license application was submitted for a new cocktail business at the former Hundred North space next to the Mt. Baker Theatre on 100 N. Commercial St. The proposed new business name is Snowy River Cocktail Co. and the applicants are Craig and Sue Ellen Cutler.

Hundred North closed in August 2019. There were plans to put an Italian restaurant in that space prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn’t pan out.

The facility will have a family bar area that serves beer and has an area for line dancing lessons. That’s in addition to its miniature golf course, go-carts and arcade.

The facility is open every day during the summer season and is at 4620 Birch Bay Lynden Road.
