Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity in Whatcom County:

An application was submitted to the state for a business to sell beer and/or wine at 1015 Railroad Ave., near the Depot Market Square. The business name is All That Jazz Boutique Gallery and the applicants are Diana Guza-Wells and Todd Carter.

With the Blues, Brews & BBQ canceled because of COVID-19, Hotel Bellwether has come up with a new summer series event that meets the Phase 2 guidelines. This series is called the Al Fresco Dining on the Waterfront Terrace with Sweet Summer Sounds. It will be held Thursday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting July 2 and going through August. Music will be different each week, with duos or quartets playing anything from country to Latin jazz, according to a news release.

The Bellwether will also have a similar set up for its Saturday, July 4, celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Details can be found on its website.

For the second year, Sustainable Connections will have a Think Local First Rock Hunt with prizes starting on Wednesday, July 1. There will be red, navy and light blue rocks hidden at parks throughout Whatcom County. Attached to each rock are simple instructions for winning a $20 gift card to a local business.

It is part of Independents Month, which promotes local business shopping. The gift cards are coming from a variety of local businesses, including Backcountry Essentials, Camber, Ciao Thyme, Elizabeth Station, Infusion Cuisine, Mallard Ice Cream, Prime Sports Institute and Village Books.
