A new brewery that has European-inspired street food is ready to open in Bellingham

Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity in Whatcom County:

Otherlands Beer announced on Facebook that it is opening at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.

The small brewery and cafe is at 2121 Humboldt St., in the Sunnyland neighborhood near Home Skillet. According to its website, Otherlands will offer rustic lagers, farmhouse ales and European-inspired street food.

BECU is on track for a late August opening of its neighborhood branch at the Lakeway Shopping Center, near Whole Foods. The credit union announced that it was entering the Whatcom County market in early March, putting in a 2,800-square-foot branch that features a “tellerless” layout, which encourages ATM, online and mobile banking. It will have employees available to handle one-on-one support for opening accounts and more complex services such as mortgages and auto loans, according to the news release.

A building permit was submitted to build a 79-unit apartment building at 3815 Elwood Ave., near the Samish Way Interstate 5 overpass.
