San Juan Cruises unveils its 2020 schedule. Here’s where you can go
A Fairhaven cruise company has added more excursions in Skagit County to its spring and summer schedule.
San Juan Cruises will have regular trips that depart from La Conner Channel Lodge, including daily trips April 6-26 during the Skagit County Tulip Festival. The 2.5-hour cruise on the vessel Chinook will head over to Deception Pass and feature a crab lunch, baked Tuscan chicken and full bar service.
The company sees an opportunity during the Tulip Festival because the cruise gives visitors another way to check out the area, Sean Berry, marketing manager for San Juan Cruises, wrote in an email. With restaurants so busy during the festival, this is another option to grab some lunch.
The company will offer a similar lunch cruise on Saturdays in July and August, along with a dinner cruise on Sundays during that same time period. It will also offer Skagit history cruises in July and August.
These tours are in addition to the regular trips from the Bellingham Cruise Terminal, which includes trips to Friday Harbor, whale watching and the Bellingham Bay BREWers Cruise. Along with the Chinook, San Juan Cruises operates Victoria Star 2, Salish Express and Salish Sea vessels.
Berry wrote that 2019 was a strong season in terms of visitors, particularly with the crab cruises, which he said were more popular than the brunch cruises. Advance bookings are already strong for this year’s Tulip Festival cruises.
