Boomer’s gears up for its anniversary sale; new coffee stand opens
Here’s a roundup of recent retail activity in Whatcom County:
▪ Boomer’s Drive-In at 310 N. Samish Way is gearing up for its anniversary sale. Known as Boomuary, it starts on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and goes through the end of February. All burgers on the menu will be $3.19 during the sale.
According to the Boomer’s website, it’s a popular sale: A stack of the hamburger buns sold would reach 17,746 feet high, while cases of waffle fries sold would stretch across more than three football fields. To minimize wait times, the company suggests calling in orders or prepaying online through its app.
▪ A coffee stand in Sumas celebrated the New Year with a grand opening celebration. Loca Mocha is at 719 Cherry St., near Bob’s Burgers & Brew. According to its Facebook page, winter hours are 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, closed Sunday.
▪ A cafe and bar are taking this slow period of the year for a winter break. According to Facebook posts, the Swim Club in Fairhaven is reopening on Jan. 10, and the Rhody Cafe in Bow will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 15
▪ A building permit application was submitted to remodel and expand Whistle Workwear at 3908 Meridian St.
▪ The Frosty Inn Restaurant and Lounge is now open 7461 Mt. Baker Highway in Maple Falls. According to its Facebook page it is open 3-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closing an hour earlier on Sunday. The menu shows plenty of different offerings of sandwiches, pizza and burgers.
