Cocktail lounge will soon be a new addition to downtown Bellingham’s nightlife

After nearly a year of remodeling work, a new cocktail lounge in downtown Bellingham is ready to host a grand opening.

L&L Libations is open now, with an official grand opening scheduled for Friday, Nov. 15. The lounge is at 1107 N. State St., next to Leaf & Ladle. Both businesses are operated by Linda Melim and her daughter, Taylor.

While mostly a cocktail bar, L&L Libations will have some food that is whipped up in the Leaf & Ladle kitchen. The idea is to make it a welcoming place for anyone and not zeroing in on a particular demographic, Linda Melim said.

Leaf & Ladle, which originally opened for lunch in 2013, is now open until 9 p.m. each day. In researching that hours shift, they found an opportunity to do more business in the evening.

The space took quite a bit of revamping because it hasn’t been used as a bar/restaurant in recent memory. The building has been home to a variety of companies over the years, including Dream On Futon. The space has also had a variety of auto repair companies over the decades, according to city of Bellingham archives.

L&L Libations will be open 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. every day. Details can be found on the company’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
